3 Terms and Conditions You Need to Look for in a Removalist Contract

Posted on

When you hire a removalist you will likely be asked to sign and accept a terms and conditions or terms of agreement form. Unfortunately, most people are in a hurry and assume that the form is standard without reading the fine print. If you don't have the time to read the whole form, at least look for these three points to ensure you understand exactly what you are getting into or what may happen if a problem arises.

Changes to the Contract

Some contracts will state that as part of the terms and conditions of the business, you agree that changes can be made at any time without notification. This isn't used often, but when it is it can send up a red flag for some people because it means anything can happen and you won't be notified until the change has already been made.

If you see this in your contract make sure to ask and receive written clarification what it pertains to. For example, find out if it means you could be charged more or have your items held for any reason.

Limitations on Service

Make sure to look for any notice that limits what kind of services you can obtain from the removalist company. For example, if you own a company that deals in furniture removals you may be limited or blocked from using the removalist companies services. This can be tricky especially if you work for a company that does industrial or corporate moves and you need a removalist to handle your residential move.

Refunds, Damages, and Fees

Sometimes you will find an entry on the terms and conditions that covers refunds, damages, and other fees. Look for the wording and make sure you fully understand what you are and what you could be charged for. Some people will wait until they receive a final bill to begin asking what small fees are why they were seemingly overcharged for a service or item. You may also find that certain damages are not refunded or covered and that refunds are not allowed after a certain date. These are all points that could hit your budget hard if you wait too long to check into them.

These are just three of the things you should look for before signing your terms and conditions contract with a removalist such as Rumbles Removal & Storage. Ideally you should take time to read and understand all of the terms and conditions to ensure you don't have issues later. If you have any questions make sure to get clarification in writing.
